Dr. James Wilson

Dr Wilson is a Clinical Oncologist specialising in the treatment of thoracic malignancies (lung cancer, thymoma, mesothelioma). He has expertise in radiotherapy, including stereotactic radiotherapy, chemotherapy and immunotherapy.

His PhD from the University of Oxford focused on how cancer imaging can be used to personalise chemotherapy and radiotherapy strategies for patients and how new drugs can be combined with radiotherapy to improve treatment outcomes. His work has been published and presented at international meetings. He continues to build on his research interests at UCL/UCLH.

He is a member of the oligometastatic MDT and has expertise in the use of stereotactic radiotherapy for for the treatment of lung, spine, bone and soft tissue metastases.

Dr Wilson completed his training at the Royal Marsden Hospital. He maintained his research interests as a NIHR academic clinical lecturer at The Institute of Cancer Research before taking up a consultant post at Guy's and St Thomas' in 2017. He moved to UCLH in 2019 to increase his focus on thoracic oncology.
